Market Update

US futures remain flat as investors prepare for the final trading day of 2020. The S&P 500 is up 15.5% this year, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 6.6%, and the Nasdaq Composite is up 43% this year. The US jobless reports are going to be released at 8:30 and are expected to be around 828,000 a slight increase from the prior week of 803,000.

International Markets

European markets were down slightly on the last trading day. Asian markets were mixed as China said its factory activity expanded in December.

Commodities

Gold and silver are both up slightly today. Gold is set to have its best year since 2010. Oil had a 20% drop in 2020 and is currently down 1% today as investors way the pandemic and new lockdown measures.

Crypto

Bitcoin briefly topped $29,000 making an a new all time high but currently is trading around $28,286.

Biggest After Market Movers

Tribune Publishing is up 9% after Alden Global Capital offered to buy more shares. Tesla (TSLA) is up 1% after five straight sessions of gains. Celsius Holdings is up 13% after news they will join the S&P 500 SmallCap 600. MicroStrategy is up 3% after their values continues to surge due to their recent bitcoin purchases.
